Meet the Herd
Meet the herd.
One llama, a couple geese, a flock of sheep and sometimes a chiweenie keep the Lake Pasture in tip-top shape.
Forrest the llama
Meet Forrest, our charming resident llama here at The Lake Pasture! With his stunning coat and regal presence, Forrest is truly a sight to behold. Though he may come off as a bit aloof at first, his handsome looks and gentle demeanor win over everyone he meets.
This majestic guardian takes his role of protecting the sheep herd very seriously, always keeping a watchful eye over his woolly friends. Despite his stoic exterior, Forrest has a soft spot for carrots and apples - his favorite treats that never fail to bring a gleam to his eyes.
Next time you visit The Lake Pasture, be sure to say hello to Forrest. He may seem distant at first, but once you offer him a tasty treat, you'll see his aloofness melt away into a warm and friendly presence, just like the sun breaking through the fog on the Oregon Coast.
The Sheep Herd
Our herd of sheep at The Lake Pasture plays a vital role in naturally maintaining the brush and grass on our land. With a tradition passed down through generations, our family takes joy in caring for these gentle animals and their adorable lambs that frolic in the fields every spring. These sheep are not just livestock to us; they are part of our heritage and a cherished aspect of our pastoral lifestyle. Watching them peacefully graze and hearing the soft sound of their bleating is a daily reminder of the simplicity and beauty of nature that surrounds us.
Other Wildlife
Campers at The Lake Pasture can look forward to encountering a variety of natural wildlife during their stay. Keep an eye out for the graceful resident river otters splashing and playing in the water, while flocks of geese glide overhead with their distinctive honking. Majestic eagles soar high above, scanning the landscape with keen eyes, and the vibrant flash of red from red-winged blackbirds adds a vivid contrast to the serene natural backdrop. These sightings offer campers the chance to appreciate the beauty and diversity of the local ecosystem during their outdoor adventures.
We take care of our local wildlife by maintaining distance, never feeding them and always picking up after ourselves and neighbors.
